EDP Auditing: Conceptual Foundations and Practice
EDP auditing is the process of collecting and evaluating evidence to determine whether a computer system safeguards assets, maintains data integrity, achieves organizational goals effectively, and consumes resources efficiently. The parts (and chapters) of the book follow a natural sequence. The first part motivates the EDP audit function within an organization. The second and third parts describe the computer control frameworks that should exist in an organization at the management level and application system level, respectively. Techniques of evidence collection are discussed in the fourth part of the book; and the fifth part discusses how the evidence collected can be evaluated. The final part discusses EDP audit management.
