Instrumentation for Engineering Measurement
Since publication of the first edition of this textbook in 1984, many changes have occured that affect instruction of instrumentation and methods for performing engineering measurements. The changes that we consider important and that are addressed in this revision are as follows:
1. Rapid advancements in digital instrument, ranging from simple voltmeters to complex spectrum analyzers.
2. Widespread availability of personal computers and workstation that allow data acquisitions and data processing to be combined.
3. Development of improved methods for vibration analysis utilizing spectrum analyzers for mapping between the time and frequency domains.
4. Recognition of the need to better integrate a course in measurement with other courses and other educational objectives in engineering curricula.
